What is Reiki?

The awareness that an unseen energy flows through all living things and directly affects the quality of a person’s health has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. This life energy is known as “ki” in Japan, “qi” in China, and “prana” in India. Science refers to it as biofield energy.

What is a Reiki Session Like?

Reiki is administered through the hands of a practitioner with the client lying fully clothed on a massage table. A typical session can last from 30 to 90 minutes. The practitioner’s hands are simply held at various places around the client’s body, lightly touching or slightly away from the body.

How do you learn Reiki?

Reiki is divided into four degrees (or levels), and classes are typically taught in weekend workshops. The first three degrees are practitioner levels, while the fourth is the Master Teacher level which prepares you to teach Reiki. Reiki is simple to learn; even children can learn it.

Is Reiki a Religion?

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, no central figure of worship, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Reiki is as effective on plants and animals as it is on humans.
